Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Timing of work
Our scheduler will typically call a couple days ahead of time to let you know the date of service. Most jobs do not require the customer to be home, and we can often provide faster service to customers that tell us that we may do the work at our first opportunity.
Large Tree Removal
For large tree removals the bigger pieces of wood are taken away by a separate crew, usually a day or two after a tree is taken down.
Stump Grinding
Grinding stumps requires specialized equipment, and is done by a second crew, usually a couple days after a tree is removed.
Pole -> House Electric Wires
When working on a tree near your house’s electric wires (those going from the pole to your house) we may need to coordinate with the electric company to temporarily lower the wires while we perform the work. This is done for the safety of our employees and your property. The electric company puts the wires back up the same day. Jobs requiring wire drops may take longer to schedule depending on the electric company’s workload.
Pole -> Pole Electric Wires
When working on a tree near the primary electric wires (those going from pole to pole) we may coordinate with the electric company to place a non-conductive plastic sheathing, or “sleeve”, on the wires. This is done for the safety of our employees and your property. The electric company will not give us a time-frame for this service and it often takes them several weeks. We will periodically check to see if the sleeves have been installed, and we encourage customers to call us if they notice the sleeves. Once the sleeves have been installed our scheduler will call you to arrange a date of service.
Dig-Rite
Stump grinding sometimes requires a call to Dig-Rite to mark underground utilities. Ray’s will call Dig-Rite after the tree has been removed so that the markings/flags are freshly visible.
